Just because...

Two posts in a week?  Blimey!

Well, I've been trawling Pinterest a lot for inspiration, and I've seen a few variations on this design.  Of course, when I'm *looking* for it, can I find one?  No, of course not!

The idea is simple but, having just bought some 8x8 bases for another project, I decided to think big!

The paper strips are the off-cuts of the mats on my diary pages, and the flower is a docrafts Big Bloomer flower from the same capsule collection, but heavily embossed with UTEE to give an almost metallic finish.  Looks fab, and was fun to make a card just because!

New Year's Resolution

I will organise my stash - and use it!
I will get cards done in advance and not at the last minute!
I will update this blog again!

In an attempt to work towards all those goals, my I present my last project of 2013/first of 2014?

Using a mix of old stash that needed used, some new docrafts papers and tags, and playing on my new Sizzix Eclips, I have created a birthday book.

Now, it's by no means "finished" as I plan to double it up as a sort of journal/scrap book and add memory bits to it during the year, but it's ready to get started.

So, with the first birthday in my calendar in February, let's use January to get organised!

Long time, no see!

I knew I hadn't blogged here in ages, but didn't realise it was QUITE as long as that!  Oh my!

Anyway, trying to link Blogger and G+ to see how that's working, and thought I'd share a card I made recently for a friend's birthday.
The image is from Stampendous, and is coloured with Ranger Liquid Pearl Acrylics.  I layered up a couple of the metal plates, topped with Glossy Accents, and added brads and gears for dimension.

Loved it, and so did the recipient!

Catching up

Made a few cards recently, just not got round to posting them online!

First up, a pink and fairy leaving card as a request for a friend at work:

Next up, two requested by my OH for a friend at work who had a birthday, then left within a week!

I think, after going through all my stash and still struggling to find what he wanted me to use, he’s finally got an idea why I’ve got so many stamps!  Still, as if I needed it, it was a good excuse to buy another gorjuss girl!

Finally, if it’s owls, it has to be for my Mum!

The front is a layer of acetate, with vellum behind it, and a border of punched Kraft card holding them in place.  The paper and image is a magazine freebie from last year, from Making Cards, and I’ve got several cards for Mum out the set!

No challenge entries from this lot, but I’ve got a few ideas this week, time willing!

L for Lemon and Lime

Two posts in two days?  Blimey!

So, went into Sam Taylors last weekend, and was surprised to find some of my beloved Simply Sassys in the sale!  What could I do?  At half price, it would have been rude not to rescue them!  So, I now have High School Student, Little Light of Mine and this little cutie – My Friend Kitty – added to my collection.

Now, I started colouring her last week, for the Alphabet Challenge, K is for Kitty Cats.  As ever, life cropped up and I didn’t get her finished in time.  So, I was delighted to see that this week’s challenge was L for Lemon and Lime – and she fitted right in!

As with the Christmas card below, she was made using Rozzy’s Trimcraft sketch challenge, the image is Simply Sassy, coloured with promarkers, and the cards, paper and embellishments are all docrafts.

Alphabet Challenge – L is for Lemon and Lime

Planning ahead, I got tickets through today for the GNPE at Harrogate in September, and I’m booked on the Clarity breakfast workshop, with Barbara Grey hopefully teaching me how to get more use out my brayer!

Can’t wait!

Christmas in July

Haven’t uploaded in ages due to work and holidays, and here I am with a Christmas card!

Stamp is a Hero Arts stamp, which I received in a swap – which had the additional challenge to see what we could do with the stamp we received.

I would also like to enter this in Polka Doodles' Christmas in July challenge.

Birthday Card

I can now share this card, since the recipient has now seen it!

Unfortunately, all she’s seen is the pictures, as the card is lost somewhere between here and Holland.  Good old Royal Mail.

The colours are inspired by Jenny Joseph’s poem, Warning…

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth
